Roofing

A roof is the one thing on your house that has to be right.

Roof replacement, repair and new installation by a builder whose carpenters are already on the roof when something turns up underneath.

Get a written scope

Repair or replace? Start with an honest look.

Not every leak means a new roof, and we would rather tell you your roof has time left than sell you one you do not need yet.

A single flashing detail around a chimney can let water in while the rest of the roof is fine. A vent boot that has dried out and split can stain a ceiling and cost very little to correct. What matters is whether the problem is one spot or a pattern. One soft area on the deck is different from soft areas everywhere we step. When the trouble is spread out, patching turns into a run of repairs that never quite ends, and that is the point where replacement stops being the expensive choice.

What we handle

Roof replacement

Full tear-off, deck inspected as it is opened, and the roof closed back in before we leave for the day.

Roof repair

Flashings, valleys, vent penetrations and the edges where ice builds up — the details that actually leak.

New construction roofing

Roofs on the custom homes and additions we build, framed and finished by the same crew.

Structural repairs underneath

Rotted sheathing, damaged rafters and rebuilt eaves — carpentry work, handled in house.

Additions and dormers

Tying a new roofline into an existing one so the house still reads as one building.

The damage inside

Stained drywall, sagging ceilings and swollen trim repaired by the same company that stopped the water.

Rot under a roof deck is not a roofing problem. It is a carpentry problem.

This is the part homeowners are right to worry about. A roof gets torn off on a Tuesday morning, the crew finds rotted sheathing under a failed flashing, and the job stops — sometimes while somebody else is called in, sometimes with your house open to the sky and a change order you do not understand.

Bartow employs our own carpenters. When we open a roof and find something wrong underneath, the people who fix it are already standing on it. We show you what we found, tell you what it takes to make it right, and keep going.

How the job runs

Four steps, and you know where you are in them the whole way through.

We walk the roof and get into the attic

The underside of the deck tells you more than the shingles do — daylight where there should not be daylight, stains on the rafters, insulation that has been wet and packed down.

You get the scope in writing

What is coming off, what is going back on, what happens to the landscaping and the driveway, how long we expect to be there, and how we handle what we cannot see yet.

Tear-off, and an honest look at the deck

We do not open more than we can close. Anything we find underneath gets shown to you before it gets covered back up.

Closed in, then finished inside

The roof goes back on, and any drywall or trim the leak damaged is handled on the same schedule rather than left for you to arrange.

Questions we get

How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?

Usually by whether the problem is isolated or spread out. One failed flashing or one bad vent boot is a repair. Wear across whole slopes, several leaks in different places, or soft spots in the deck point toward replacement. We will look and tell you which one you are dealing with.

What happens if you find rot under my old roof?

We show it to you, explain what it takes to correct, and our own carpenters do the repair. Because that work is in house, the job keeps moving instead of stopping while somebody else is scheduled.

How long will my roof be torn open?

It depends on the size and shape of the roof, what we find underneath, and the weather. You get an expected schedule in writing before we start, and we tell you as soon as anything changes.

Where do you work?

Manitowoc, Two Rivers, Valders, the rest of Manitowoc County, and into Sheboygan County.

A leak, a roof you know is near the end, or just a straight answer about whether this is a repair year or a replacement year.
