An appointment will be made to visit your home to discuss the project with you. It is important to have all decision makers on the project at this initial consultation. At this meeting, we will answer your questions, discuss your vision for the job, and offer our expertise. We will take measurements and detailed notes during this appointment so that we can be accurate in our proposal.
Three to four weeks after your initial appointment, we will also schedule a proposal appointment. We will meet with you again in person (or via phone or video conference, if necessary) to walk you through your project proposal and answer any initial questions you may have. This proposal will be a simple, budgetary document so you can see where you can expect your project to be financially. You can let us know any questions or adjustments that need to be made to the proposal.
Then, once a budgetary number is agreed upon, we will move to the formal estimate. We will discuss if your project requires design work (at which point we will discuss a Design Agreement) and what selections we need made in order to accurately price the project.
With our Design Agreement, you will work together with our on-staff designer to customize a plan to fit your needs and desires for your project. We can design your home or large remodel in 3-D as well as colored renderings, allowing you to see your home or project in real color before the work begins. Every project we complete at Bartow Builders is created specifically for the customer so this plan will be unique to you!
No matter how big or small your project is, chances are, there will be some selections to be made. Selections are all the details that go into your project – from your plaster texture, to paint color, to flooring, to lighting. We will provide you with a list of what selections need to be made, the contact information for any trade partners you should meet with to make those selections, and a timeline. We will also follow up with each of the trade partners to give them information regarding your project and a heads up that you’ll be reaching out, so that they are as prepared as possible for your appointment. Once your selections are made, we upload the details with photos into an online portal for your final review and approval.
*Note: We ALWAYS recommend making an appointment when visiting a trade partner showroom so that they can be prepared for you and give you the undivided attention you deserve! It allows for the most efficient use of your time.
We will work together to create a comprehensive estimate including specific selections and other details for your project. If necessary, we will schedule a site visit to bring our trade partners to your home to see what is existing and gather any additional information they may need to give us accurate pricing for their portions of the project.
The estimate you receive will list specifically what you can expect to occur during your project, the tasks Bartow Builders will complete, the materials we intend to use, and the selections that you have chosen. This is the document on which we will base our contract.
Once the estimate has been agreed upon, a contract will be signed that includes a start and completion date, detailed scope of work, and payment schedule. Down payment will be collected at the time of the contract signing to secure your spot in our schedule.
Behind the scenes, you can rest assured that we are handling any pre-construction coordination for your project. We handle pulling any permitting, researching any setbacks or local regulations that may affect your project, we call diggers hotline (when applicable) and coordinate having a dumpster and portable toilet delivered to the site, etc. It is our goal to make the process as seamless as possible for you, and that starts before the project even begins.
Throughout your project, you will have weekly in-person meetings and continuous communications with your Project Manager to discuss scheduling and address any of your questions or concerns. You will be given access to our Project Management System to see the selections for your project, photos of the work as it is being done, and to see the schedule of your project. This system allows us to have great communication with you, our staff, and our trade partners – all in one place!
At the end of the project, you will have a walk-through to address any final details that need to be taken care of before the project is deemed complete and final payment is collected.
